„Dom pod Dobrą Gwiazdą” [“Home under the Good Star”] (Day Care Centre) located by Jewish Community in Lodz, was founded in the year 2002.
It came into being due to the call of the heart and the will to help senior citizens, who are so often ill, lonely, sometimes even disabled. Persons under our care take advantage of our wide range of offers:
- occupational therapy, art therapy, garden therapy
- artistic performances
- library
- television room
In order to look after the fitness and the health of seniors we have furnished the rehabilitation room. Under the care of the qualified instructor persons under our care may use of manual massages, slings, stationary bikes, running track, bioptrop light therapy. Everyday there is therapeutic gymnastic and the Activities of Daily Living Training.
In the other room there is the consulting-room of Natural Medicine. One may take advantage of alternative medical methods, that are surprisingly efficient. The range of our offer is very wide:
- the energetic-relaxing Peloha massage,
- ear candling
- moxa
- ceragem bed massage
- aromatherapy
- acupressure.
We are concern for creating a family-like atmosphere. We celebrate birthday and other festivities. We help in everyday life issues and help in solving various problems.

You will find there new friends and various opportunities for developing of your personal interests as well as the attractive forms of leisure pass time.
The most disabled persons under our care are brought to the rehabilitation exercises and other activities in the Day Care Centre owing to the people of good will.
Unfortunately, we do not have our own means of transportation, that would make the life of elderly people easier. Too often in spite of their wishes they must give up going to the theatre or concert hall. We forget sometimes that elderly people have also spiritual needs and cultural interests, of which they are bereft due to the age or disability. It should not be that way.
Therefore we are applying to all people of good will and open heart, who are ready to help us to buy a minibus, that can improve the quality of the life of our senior citizens.
